Curriculum Vitae

Hawkins Gay is an Electrophysiologist at Northwestern University. In addition to clinical cardiology and electrophysiology (EP), he is interested in digital health, biostatistics, machine learning and furthering the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into clinical medicine.

He completed undergraduate studies in Economics at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.  Prior to medical school, he worked as an investment banking analyst for Edgeview Partners (now Piper Sandler Investment Bank) with advisory experience in a number of industry spaces including aerospace and defense, business services, and consumer products. After banking, Hawkins attended medical school (MD) at Emory University and also completed a Masters of Public Health (MPH) with a concentration in Epidemiology. He moved from Emory to Northwestern University where he was initially employed as an Internal Medicine resident and also trained as a Cardiology and EP fellow, before taking a position as an attending Clinical Electrophysiologist.  During that time, he also received a Masters of Science in Artificial Intelligence (MSAI) at the McCormick School of Engineering.

Having a diverse work and training experience has helped shape his interest and perspective as it relates to the overlap of the Digital Health, AI and Healthcare industries.  Data is now our greatest resource and the primary driver of much industrial and knowledge production – it should be shared in a free, effective, appropriate and efficient manner so that we may all benefit to the greatest extent.

Please see this first post to better understand the focus and direction of this project.  I hope to learn a lot from this experience and would love to hear your feedback and comments regarding the content.  Please contact Hawkins via the Contact page with any questions or recommendations – I look forward to hearing from everyone.
